Reserve Collection FAQ for
Faculty
The Basileiad Library Reserve Collection is intended as a
tool for instructors to supplement and support classroom instruction. Students
are then able to review reserve materials for a period of two hours or less
within the Library. In doing this, classroom instruction is reinforced through
supplemental texts, readings, class notes, practice exams, assignment solutions,
videos, and other such materials. Reference works that are regularly sought by
students for specific assignments might also be placed on reserve to monitor
access and minimize the potential for theft.
Books, videos, CD ROMs, and audio books from both the
Library collection and your personal collection may be placed on reserve. Some
instructors may wish to place lecture notes, Power Point slides, practice exams,
and assignment solutions on reserve. You may also place journal articles and
book chapters on reserve. If you choose the latter, please be sure you
familiarize yourself with the copyright and Fair Use information available at
the Copyright
Clearance Center. The Librarian can
assist you in further copyright information or questions you might have.
For materials within the Library collection you can send
an email request to The Librarian,
including all pertinent information for location of the item(s), or bring the
item(s) directly to the circulation desk. For materials from your personal
collection, simply bring the item(s) directly to the circulation desk.
Materials are placed on reserve each semester. The
Librarian will send a list of the current items on reserve to all faculty
members for review. You may be asked to physically review the items you have on
reserve to keep them current.
