General Information About Basileiad LibraryBasileiad Library is the hub of activity at Manor College. It serves as a place for you to:
The Library’s collection has about 50,000 items to support you in your education here at Manor College. We have specialized subject dictionaries and encyclopedias, an extensive law collection, and numerous scholarly journals to keep you current in your fields of study. We also offer access, from any computer, to over 1,500 electronic books. Electronic access to full text journal articles from over 3,500 journals is available via the EBSCOhost database. We also have a growing collection of multimedia learning resources on VHS and DVD that you can view here in the Library, as well as an audio book collection to help you learn or relax.
Borrowing Library Materials Borrowing rights at Manor College are available to currently enrolled students, as well as Manor College faculty and staff. Special borrowing arrangements can be extended for Alumni, students of St. Basil's Academy, and residents of the surrounding community.
Loan Periods & Restrictions The following items must be used in the library: CD-Roms Videos Books placed on 'reserve' Reference books Journals All other materials may be borrowed for one month, and renewed after that time if necessary.
Renewals Books may be renewed in person at the Library, or over the phone (215-885-2360 ext. 238). If there are any fines on a borrower’s record, no renewals will be allowed until the fines are paid. For questions regarding renewals, contact Maria Zin at the above number.
Fines and Charges Fines for overdue materials are .10 cents per day per item up to a maximum fine of $20.00 per item. Any student who has an unpaid fine on the books at the end of the semester will not be able to get his/her grades or transact any college business (obtaining transcripts, etc.) until the fines are paid. When the fines are paid, a letter of release will be given to the Registrar’s office to free up your account. Books that are lost or damaged are billed to the borrower at their full replacement value plus a processing fee of $10.00. Books no longer in print and not obtainable through the normal channels will be assessed at 25.00 per hardback and 15.00 for paperbacks. If an acceptable replacement copy of the book can be obtained by the person who lost the book, then the library will wave the cost of the lost book in lieu of the replacement cost.
Photocopy Services A photocopy machine is available in the Library for all students, faculty, staff and the general public. Cost is $.10 (ten cents) per page. Change for the machine can be obtained at the circulation desk.
Accessing Online Library Materials The Library’s website is located at http://library.manor.edu. There you can access the online library catalog, our collection of electronic books, our database of full-text journal articles and abstracts, and several gateways to other online information. You can access all of these wonderful resources from any computer with online access by using your Manor user name and password. Your user name is your first initial followed by your last name (i.e., jsmith). Your first time password is the word, “user” (do not include the quotation marks). The first time you logon you will be asked to change your password.
